Trullo Sovrano is a trullo museum in Alberobello’s historic centre, behind the Chiesa dei Santi Medici Cosma e Damiano.

History

The priest’s family lived here and housed employees in the surrounding trulli.

  1. Early 1600sThe original core, now the left wing, was built.
  2. First half of the 1700sThe rest of the building was built for the family of priest Cataldo Perta.
  3. 15 April 1797A notarial document mentioned changes to the house.
  4. Early 1800sRelics of Santi Cosma e Damiano were kept here.
  5. 1826The Confraternita del SS.Sacramento began using the building.
