History

The park cost US$1.7 billion to build, and its Western area, with its shows, was revamped into Land of Oz in 2006.

  1. 1998Construction begins under a licensing deal with Universal.
  2. 2001The park opens to visitors.
  3. 2009E.T. Adventure closes and is replaced by Space Fantasy: The Ride.
  4. 2011The Land of Oz area closes to make way for Universal Wonderland.
  5. 2016Back to the Future: The Ride closes in the San Francisco area.
