History
The Bodmen settlement has existed for centuries.
- 1773A larch house in the Bodmen settlement bears the carved year 1773 and builders’ initials P. I.
- c. 1909Abraham Imseng built the original Café-Bodmen, which his daughter Agnes ran.
- 1870–1919Paul Huguenin (1870–1919): The painter was buried north of the Bodmen settlement because he was fond of the area; his grave slab records his name, profession and life dates.
- 1929Emanuel Bumann of Saas-Fee acquired Café-Bodmen at auction and ran it with his wife Leonie for twenty years.
- 1949Olga Schnyder bought Café-Bodmen.
