History
Eddy Meeùs founded the park in 1975 as Walibi, a name built from the nearby municipalities of Wavre, Limal and Bierges. Its early attractions were linked to the Tintin comic, and the park held that license until the end of 1995. Its main attraction, Le Temple du Soleil, was made in agreement with Hergé. The park changed hands several times. It was owned by Premier Parks from 1997 to 2004 and was renamed Six Flags Belgium for a time, before returning to the Walibi name in 2005. Compagnie des Alpes has owned it since 2006. Since 2023 it also opens in winter.
