- The 650-square-metre habitat has an adventure trail with climbing features.
- The zoo has play and rest areas for children.
- The zoo school runs workshops for school classes on animals, nature conservation and species protection.
- From late March to mid-October, a changing theatre programme explains conservation to children.
- In summer, visitors can stay overnight in a tipi and take guided walks at night and early morning.

- Open daily from 09:00 to 18:00.
- Tickets are available online through the zoo’s website.
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Dogs may enter on a short lead but must wait outside the Savannenhaus, zoo school, upper floor of the Reptilienhaus and Tropenhaus.
- Private photos and videos are allowed; commercial filming requires permission, and drone filming is prohibited.

- Some animal species can be fed with hay pellets sold at the zoo.

History
Its first building, constructed for chimpanzees, now houses reptiles. Later additions included the tropical house, tiger habitat and Savannenhaus.
- 1961Walter and Edith Pischl founded the zoo in Gossau.
- 1973The first building, built for chimpanzees, became the reptile house.
- 1986A tropical house and zoo restaurant followed the transfer of the zoo to Gabi and Ernst Federer.
- 2009A new tiger habitat and the Oktagon office building opened.
- 2011Walter Pischl’s granddaughters Karin Federer and Jeannine Gleichmann-Federer began the zoo’s third generation of leadership.
