History
Elijah Pepper established the distillery, which later passed to his son Oscar. James C. Crow advanced understanding of sour mash fermentation, pot still distillation and barrel maturation there. Elizabeth McCall became Master Distiller in 2023, with Chris Morris named Master Distiller Emeritus.
- 1812Distilling began on the site.
- 1878The Pepper family sold the property to Leopold Labrot and James Graham.
- 1993Brown-Forman bought and restored the property, then resumed distilling there.
- 1996The Woodford Reserve brand launched.
- 2004The distillery took the Woodford Reserve name.
