History
Shooting guilds celebrated successful practice here over hearty meals, beer and wine.
- Middle AgesTwo civic shooting guilds formed alongside Dresden’s medieval defence system.
- 1549The shooting ground moved from the Schießgraben to Wilsdruffer Vorstadt.
- 1656–1658Elector Johann Georg II ordered the house rebuilt in 1656. Construction began the next year, and it reopened in April 1658.
- 1708, 1721The shooting lanes were modified to improve safety.
- 1768A replacement shooting house opened on 31 October with a large celebration.

- 1842Major alterations improved shooting-range safety.
- 1873Use of the building as a shooting range ended on 14 February.
- 1930sThe building underwent extensive reconstruction.
- 1945The building survived Dresden’s February bombing nights.
- 1994The Dresden trade guild received a 66-year building lease, with a ground-floor restaurant planned.
- December 1996The restaurant opened.
