Histoire
Bern master builder Hans Jakob Dünz and his brother Abraham Dünz drew up the conversion plans for the former wine and grain store.
- 1898Kornhauskeller opened as a restaurant in the basement of Bern’s granary.
- 1898–1901Rudolf Münger created the wall paintings, including allegorical frescoes depicting Bern’s history and personifications of virtues and vices.
- 20th centuryThe cellar hosted receptions, celebrations and cultural events alongside its restaurant service.
- 1980sA major renovation preserved much of the cellar’s historic character.
- 1998–1999The chef joined as sous-chef in autumn 1998 and became chef de cuisine at the reopening a year later.
