- 15th c.A bakers’ guild house stood on the site.
- 1821The guild house was sold to the city and became an inn named Krone, distinguishing it from the Gasthaus zu Metzgern opposite.
- 1852The inn came under private ownership.
- 1968Walter Hauenstein bought the hotel, a neighboring butcher’s shop and Feuergässchen.
- 1971The hotel buildings were demolished after plans to preserve original components were discussed.

- 1979The hotel added the Aare Terrace.
- 1983The hotel opened a China Restaurant.
- 2008The first-floor restaurants and reception were renovated.
- 2020–2024Janine Wolf refreshed the rooms with parquet flooring and digitized hotel processes.
- Spring 2024Melanie Fontana became director.
