Lucerne’s first town defences likely began soon after the town’s foundation, and Peterskapelle had joined the wall circuit by 1234 at the latest.

Physical access The battlement path is narrow and difficult with a wheelchair or stroller. Tower access involves steep, narrow wooden stairs; visitors should be comfortable with heights and have an ordinary level of fitness.
