Originally named SkyDome, the stadium is still commonly known by that name among fans.
- 1982A rain-soaked Grey Cup at Exhibition Stadium prompted calls for a covered Toronto stadium.
- 1986Construction began on the Railway Lands.
- 1989The stadium opened on June 3. The Blue Jays played its first sporting event there on June 5.
- 2005SkyDome was renamed Rogers Centre.
- 2015The stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pan American Games.
