History
- 1896–2007The Basler Sanatorium stood on this site at the foot of the Seehorn. It treated tuberculosis and later other respiratory illnesses from 1896 to 1985, then was demolished in 2007.
- DesignMatteo Thun’s 2006 proposal influenced the hotel’s form. Oikios, founded in 2007 by former Thun architect Oliver Hofmeister, produced the realized design with diagonally divided metal cladding instead of the proposed simple wood facade.
- 2011–2013Construction ran from April 2011 to November 2013.
- 2013The hotel began operating as InterContinental on 19 December.
- 27 November 2019Aevis Victoria SA announced its purchase of the hotel.
