History
The current building dates to around 1920 and includes a large hall that remains in use. The Balz family took over the guest house in 1929.
- 1890The Militärgarten restaurant stood on the site.
- c. 1920The current building was constructed with a large hall that remains in use.
- 1929Ernst and Flora Balz-Kindler took over the Militärgarten, then a guest house.
- 1953/54Fritz and Margrit Balz-Beetschen took over and turned evening dances in the hall into an early disco.
- c. 1970Fritz Balz bought the property from the Cardinal brewery.

- 1985After Fritz Balz died, his twin sons Daniel and Andreas took over management. The house became Hotel Restaurant Jardin.
