A bridge once connected the Rhine’s right bank to the castle’s walled courtyard.
- mid-11th centuryBurg im Fischerhölzli, Wörth’s predecessor, was built.
- 13th centuryThe waterfall interrupted the route between Lake Constance and Basel. Wörth became a transfer point on the east-west trade route, serving it until the mid-19th century.
- 1348The present castle was built as a customs house to secure the transfer of goods around the falls.
- 1621A stone floor replaced the timber clerestory.
- 1797Goethe mentioned the castle in his diary on 18 September.
