Istorie
The 1896 rebuilding turned the station almost 90 degrees, orienting its north end toward the bridge to central Lucerne. The new approach removed street-level crossings and integrated the Brünig railway. After the 1971 fire, temporary buildings kept services running until the replacement station opened in 1991.
- 1859The first station opened beside the lake on 1 June in a one-storey wooden building designed by Ludwig Maring.
- 1864A direct rail connection to Zürich via Zug removed the detour through Olten.
- 1896Hans Wilhelm Auer’s replacement station opened with a distinctive cupola.
- 1922The station’s tracks were electrified.
- 1971A fire on 5 February destroyed much of the passenger building and its dome. No one died, and service resumed the next day in temporary facilities.

- VaporPassenger ships use the landing stages at Luzern Bahnhofquai beside Bahnhofplatz. The Gotthard Panorama Express steamer departs from here toward Flüelen.
- Pe josFrom the old town, cross the Reuss via Seebrücke to reach the station area.
